Voluntary Action East Renfrewshire

The BefriendER project offeres a range of servicesto support socially isolated older people throughout East Renfrewshire.

"Half-Hour Hello"

Volunteer befrienders provide a weekly or fortnightly drop-in service for a quick social chat in the older person's home.

"Peer Befriending"

2-3 older people meeting up weekly or fortnightly for social contact, facilitated by a volunteer.

One-to-One Befriending

Weekly home visiting volunteer befriending service.  Access to this service is limited, and only offered to older people who are acutely isolated.

Group Events

Group events held locally for ambulent older people once a quarter.  These events are themed in order to provide a varied calendar of events specifically to meet the requirements of our older people.

Chataway

A weekly telephone befriending service delivered by a trained, friendly volunteer.  For further information about Chataway, read Chris, Betty and Allan's story.
