The First Step Project aims to encourage and support unemployed people who are receiving jobseekers allowance, income support or incapacity benefit to volunteer in order to gain skills for future employment.
The First steps project offers a 12 week placement for each individual in a volunteer role that is matched with their skills, interests and area of work. Through out the placement each individual volunteer will be given 1:1 support from the First Steps support worker.
The project would like to encourage anyone who is unemployed and interested in volunteering as a stepping stone to other opportunities.
