If you are a volunteer aged between 12 and 25, why not get an award for your voluntary work?
The Scottish Government endorsed new Saltire Award recognises the voluntary work you do. Having recognition for your volunteering and all that you have learned and done while volunteering helps can help with application for college and university as well as looking great on your CV - it really can help put you ahead of the pack.
How Does the Saltire Award Work?
Saltire can be a progressive award you can move up from one to another or you can enter at the level that is best for you.
The levels are:
1 - Challenge (12-15 Years):
This is a one off volunteering ‘taster’ you can do as part of a team perhaps a fundraising event or ‘community clean up’. You can organise it yourself with the help of an adult or join a pre-organised event.
2 - Approach (12-15 Years):
The Approach encourages your regular, individual commitment to volunteering and you can get certificates at 10 and 25 hours. If you are 14-15 and don’t feel you can commit to the number of hours required for the Ascent this is the award for you!
3 - Ascent (14-25 Years):
The Ascent rewards your sustained commitment to volunteering and certificates are awarded at 50, 100 and 200 hours. You will also have an online account where you can track your progress and development.
4 - Summit (16-25 Years):
This is an award is for a maximum of 12 young people a year who complete the ascent and exceed expectations. These award winners are nominated by the organisations they work with.
Having completed the Ascent participants may choose to become Saltire Ambassadors undertaking a variety of roles including promoting the award.
